Ben’s Wish Partners with Carnivore Meat Company for Christmas Food Drive

Ben’s Wish, a local organization focused on solving food insecurities among families with school age children, partnered with Carnivore Meat Company, the maker of Vital Essentials® and Vital Cat™ pet foods, to collect food items this Christmas season.  Those food items will be distributed through the Ben’s Wish Weekend Backpack program. Ben’s Wish supports over 750 children every weekend of the school year with requests to support over 1,400 students here in Northeastern Wisconsin.

“Giving back to our community is simply part of our culture,” stated Lanny Viegut, CEO and Owner.  “The Christmas season is about sharing our God given gifts and talents, and we chose to partner with Ben’s Wish for our annual food drive to support the youth in our communities who may not have ample access to healthy, nutritious foods during their school break.”  A kick-off event was held for Carnivore Meat Company employees on December 3 and food items were collected over a two-week period.  Additionally, the company matched employee donations.

“This was a true community effort,” exclaimed Viegut. “We received additional donations from Fox Cities Moms Run This Town, who heard about our efforts and wanted to contribute.  We were also very blessed with our experience at Festival Foods, which gave us tremendous service in purchasing food for our company match.”

Jen Osborne, one of the Fox Cities Moms Run This Town running group learned about the food drive from her husband, an employee of Carnivore Meat Company.  “I’ve been a member of this group for a little over a year now. Each November, we do a running challenge and donate the proceeds to our community.  My team – Claire, Melissa, Noelle and Danielle – were all on board this year to support Ben’s Wish with the company!  Helping kids in our community is an amazing gift and if we can help kids have a Merrier Christmas as well, we are all for it!”

From December 3 through December 13, over 1,500 packages of foods, ranging from single servings to multi-serving packages, were collected. “The food you provided will be enough to support over 300 food packs,” remarked Peter Delain, Ben’s Wish founder.  “Know that you have touched the lives of 300 children with your donations.  Your contribution is very much appreciated!”

Over 1,500 packages of food items were collected, which will provide 300 food packs that will be distributed to children throughout Northeast Wisconsin.
