Everyone deserves a birthday! Some celebrate with Gotcha Days, while others celebrate DOGust. The North Shore Animal League  – the oldest no-kill shelter in the country, declared Aug 1 as DOGust, the universal birthday of shelter dogs.

Here’s a few ways to celebrate:

  1. Visit a Local Shelter – Consider dropping off a donation (treats, pet beds, toys). Who knows, maybe you’ll meet your new best friend?
  2. Celebrate with YOUR Dog – Head to your local pet specialty store and let your pup pick out some presents. You can get a FREE Birthday/Gotcha Day treat if you’re part of the VE ALPHA PACK! Sign up here.
  3. Share pictures of your adopted pup or dogs that need help finding homes on social media with #DOGust.

How is Vital Essentials celebrating? Check it out!

Vital Essentials took a trip to Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary and Wisconsin Humane Society – Green Bay Campus, two local animal shelters in Green Bay, Wisconsin. We celebrated DOGust with a donation of freeze-dried snacks and frozen bones! During our trip we met a few wonderful dogs that are currently looking for homes. With YOUR help, we know we can get these guys adopted!
